Penang's Tropical Spice Garden

The Tropical Spice Garden in Penang is a pretty small garden in Teluk Bahang, set against a hilly terrain. They've got clearly marked out trails that wind round the garden, offering visitors a view of some beautiful trees, flowering shrubs, herbs and spices. I liked the small details found in and around the garden for example the giant swing that gives you a view of the entire garden, the little fish pond, the Baba Nyonya tiles used on the trails...

Grab a partner, put on a pair of good walking shoes and you're set to spend a half day strolling leisurely around the garden!

I've recently fallen in love with Penang all over again. These are pictures taken on three separate trips there in the past few months.

Just before the fasting month, I managed to squeeze in a day trip on a Saturday. I went off-roading with Malayan Safaris -- a bunch of guys who turned their passion for Land Rovers into a travel/tour venture -- to somewhere near Frasers Hill. Along the way, we visited small villages, the Batu dam, a palm oil plantation, Kuala Kubu Baru and Sungai Pertak (Pertak River). It was a really hot and bright day, so most of my pictures were over-exposed : (
